Postpartum Preparation Class

An in-person class designed to help expectant parents feel grounded, informed, and supported as they enter the postpartum period.
Together, we’ll explore:
Maintaining your sense of self as your world changes and your roles evolve
What to expect physically, emotionally, and logistically in the early weeks after birth, so fewer things catch you off guard
How to identify and utilize your support people in ways that actually work for you (i.e. that don’t leave you feeling drained)
You’ll leave with realistic expectations, practical tools, and confidence in navigating the transition to parenthood.

Location: The Branch Museum’s cozy learning quarters: 2501 Monument Ave. Richmond, VA 23220
Price: $125 per birthing person (non-birthing partner is welcome at no additional cost)
Taught by: Meredith Hill, certified postpartum doula + mom of two

What’s Included?
- Helpful handouts + an organized list of postpartum resources to take home with you as a reference and guide to what we cover in class
- Water + light snacks
- A welcoming, inclusive, no-pressure environment with built-in time for self-reflection and sharing amongst others who are living in the same stage as you
You are welcome to share when it feels meaningful to you but there is no obligation to do so. Personal shares stay within the group.
Who should attend this class?
This class is perfect for:
- First-time parents who have not lived through postpartum before
- Anyone who would like to set themselves up for a smoother transition from pregnancy and birth to postpartum, no matter what number it is.
Each postpartum (birth, and child) is different, and your care deserves just as much attention as your baby’s.
Please note:
This class focuses on how to prioritize YOUR care and well-being after birth. We’ll touch on related aspects of newborn care (such as how to adjust your sleep routine with night feeds, breastfeeding comfort tips, bonding, etc.), but this class is not intended to be an Infant Care class.
